Virtual Burrator - How Can I Get Involved??
Do you have a story to tell about Burrator in years gone by or know of somebody who might have such a story? Perhaps you or your family members know of other historical places and sites close by that could be forgotten in years to come. Do you remember how people dressed in the early 1900s, how they travelled, where they worked?
Might you have pictures, newspaper or magazine cuttings hidden away in a suitcase or shoebox that you would be happy for us to borrow for a short time and scan for the Virtual Burrator archives? Maybe you have images of Longstone Manor (we are especially interested in these!), other buildings and structures nearby, the leats, close-ups of the railway line, station, or suspension bridge, pictures of Burrator and the River Meavy areas before they were flooded, visiting vehicles - horse-drawn carts, cars, buses, charabancs - and people coming to Burrator from around the South Devon area and beyond?
Better still, could you tell that story to a member of your family, or a neighbour, or friend who may have a digital camera? We would be very interested to hear from anyone in the Burrator, Dousland, Yelverton, Horrabridge areas (and much further afield, of course), who would be willing to work with us to put together a rich collection of historical material for the benefit of future generations.
If you would like to get involved and get your stories included, then please enter some simple details in the boxes below and we will make contact with you.
